The Society of Nepalese in Hawaii (SNEHA) is a public, non-profit, non-political organization [501 (C) (3)] located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Established in 2007 with the shared faith of "SNEHA" "स्नेह" which means "affection, tenderness, or love", SNEHA is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes and dreams in providing affectionate supportto the individuals and societies in need.
The mission of SNEHA is "to preserve and promote Nepalese culture, foster cooperation among Nepalese and their friends living in Hawaii, and promote educational, social, and other charitable activities to make a positive contribution to the community." Currently, SNEHA is promoting Nepali language and culture education, and supporting children's education and women's empowerment. SNEHA is also working to assist underprivileged individuals and communities in Nepal and Hawaii.
SNEHA is a cohesive community united by each member's love for Nepali people, its culture and cuisine. SNEHA membership is open to all interested individuals irrespective of their national origin, race or faith. SNEHA's current members are from diverse background and origin, mainly from Nepal, Bhutan, India and the USA. Despite its diversity, SNEHA is a cohesive community united by its mission, culture and cuisine.
SNEHA's current charitable activities are to:
1) Promote Nepalese language education in Hawaii
2) Assist to improve children's education in Nepal,
3) Assist to enhance women's empowerment in Nepal,
4) Support an underprivileged community in Hawaii and
5) Implement specific donor driven projects in line with SNEHA's Objectives
